Biography
Who am I?
Mariya Katrina Punay (b.1985) (She/Her) is a direct descendant anak and apo of a long lineage of Datus . On a rainy morning on January 29 from a rich heritage of traditions, Mariya Katrina Punay was born in the thick forest plateau atop the mountain province of Cordillera, Philippines guarded by two lions. Raised by mixed opposite cultures between the pageant world and military land in the heart of flowers & festivals in Baguio City, Mariya Katrina grew up traveling between Asia Pacific and California USA to continuously learn the best of blending harmonious vibrations between opposite worlds. For this reason, she was born under the guide of two Eagle spirit animals from two vastly different continents as her universal spiritual guardians.
Mariya Katrina skipped middle school after completing Montessori for elementary school and went on to graduate as the youngest in her high school class by attending college level courses at Delta College. She continued her international studies by being an art scholar at University of Hawaii Hilo at the young age of 15 as a third culture child from the heart of zinfandel wine region in California. She has since then grown up to become proficient at her own practice with staying in harmony with the natural world as a spatial spiritual geographer and a transpersonal therapist through inner seeing: light, sounds, movement refinement. Her continuous practice of elemental painting after several decades of experience working with multiple Fortune 500 C-level corporate leadership teams helped curate and shape what these companies are now.
Mariya Katrina is an experienced interdisciplinary Physical & Cultural Geographer and identifies as a multi-international third culture person of global majority female, two-spirit who proudly is a military brat that loves raising awareness through dance movement, breathing exercises, music, and inner spiritual geospatial psychological awareness to maintain continuous connection to Our inner Spirit for mental health and wellbeing through eco therapy, micromovement, and transpersonal psychotherapy. Her love for the local flora and fauna, especially the redwood trees in California fuels her passion to reconnect young people back to our roots: nature.
She is also a vibrant meditation teacher, empowerment speaker, high-performance athlete & yoga teacher, podcast creatrix, visionary painter, and multi-entrepreneur for an accessible approach to wellness, sovereignty and well-being for soul navigation to those reading these words to stay in full clean alignment with health, wellness and vibrant energy.
Mariya Katrina Punay's sound vibrational frequency research incorporates trance meditations, and visionary fine arts while maintaining her life work as a dance movement practitioner for inner spiritual contemplative practice in maintaining environmental harmony.
She successfully earned and completed her graduate study with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology within the field of Transpersonal Psychology, with a concentration on Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling while she successfully completed & earned her Certificate in Creative Expression and Transformation from Sofia University in 2022 at the same time. She is currently writing her long awaited book in written format, while maintaining the traditional practice of verbal trance wisdom as a Filipino-American ancient wisdom holder and keeper through sacred dances and practices, while advocating for maintaining the ancient practice of Baybayin and traditional Tagalog language for ancestral lineage heritage & cultural preservation of the multicultural diaspora of the many facets of the realities of being a Mestiza and Indigenous person for deeper roots of what third culture stands for.
Mariya Katrina is currently working on writing her dissertation proposal as a Doctoral student while actively completing her PhD in Transpersonal Psychology while completing the Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor requirements for the State of California's Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Therapist.
Mariya Katrina has over a decade of earned experiential privileged application as an Advanced Career Counselor, Mabuhay Life Advisor Mentor, Motivational Inspirational Speaker, Entrepreneur in person and digitally with multiple industry partners ranging from Fortune-500 companies, large media organizations to national private healthcare, colleges and universities. She is a faithful practitioner and teacher of open eyed meditation, hatha yoga, mindfulness, and sound therapy integration for visionaries, people on the go, leaders and speakers around the globe.
She created the sound frequency meditation research published on InsightTimer that blends science and intention frequency. These meditations now reach over 180+ countries around the globe.
